•The LSFC was founded in 1968 by Norrie and Jack Findlater, brothers from Scotland who immigrated to Canada in 1967 and 1955 respectively.
•The team played games for many years at rented fields in London including Chelsey Green, Labatt Park and the German Canadian Club.
•A search for our own facility began in the late 1970’s. In 1980, the current facility was acquired by long term lease from the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority. Plans began for the clubhouse and playing field.
•The members of the St. Andrew’s Society and London Scottish Social Club designed and laid out the facility. The laying of the sod was done completely by Club members over numerous weekends in the fall of 1980. The construction of the Club, designed by Malcolm McQueen, was also started in 1980. Many hours of volunteer labour by Club members with trades helped reduce the costs. Much of the material to build the Clubhouse was donated.
•The first game took place in the fall of 1981 and the Clubhouse was officially opened in the summer of 1982. The Club received Wintario funding from the Province of Ontario to help offset the startup costs. A full executive was established to oversee the operation of the Club. Yearly elections took place with a President, Vice President, Secretary, Soccer Convenor, Entertainment Convenor, Health and Welfare Convenor, Bar Steward and general committee members being elected. Regular monthely meetings took place year round at the Club to deal with Club business. Minutes were kept and all resolutions were noted by the Secretary. No Club business could take place unless approved by the members of the Club.
•Regular events took place every weekend at the Club ranging from pub nights, kareoky, campouts, Christsmas, New Year, St Andrew’s, St. Patricks, Valentines and Halloween dances etc… Members volunteered to run bingo’s in the City to raise funds for the Club’s activities.
•The soccer team was central to the Club’s activities. There was only one men’s team to begin with. An Under 19 team was formed but only lasted one year. A second division team was started in the early 1990’s, but again, it only lasted a few years.
•A Masters team was formed about 10 years ago and continues today. The Club now has a U12 Boys team, a Second Division ladies team and a third division mens team to go along with the First Division and Masters team.
